The UMS Group Alert System is used by several hospitals to notice health personnel. To run their departments efficiently hospitals and healthcare institutions depend on reaching a lot of people in a short period of time. A medium sized hospital may have to find personnel to cover between 500 and 1000 extra shifts each week. To cover one shift, the person in charge may need to make between 2 and 4 phone calls. Normally one phone call can vary from 3 to 10 minutes, depending on the circumstances. An automated solution can improve the existing working processes and free up time for more patient oriented work. The solution from UMS is already up and running in several hospitals, improving processes, and at some hospitals integrated with existing solutions for extra personnel. Electronic dialog with patients, blood donors and own employees, via SMS, e-mail and automated voice messages, simplifies and makes the processes more efficient.
Patient reminders
Patient absence due to lack of communication or forgetfulness, costs hospitals a great deal of money each year. Statistics show that in some departments up to 15% of the patients do not show up to their appointment. 30 % of them say the reason simply is that they forgot. Others say that they were not informed, that they were not sick anymore, or they had other reasons. In other words, by using an automated solution to remind patients about their appointments, hospitals can save money and use their recourses elsewhere. Several Norwegian hospitals have seen the substantial effect of using our solutions for patient reminders and have experienced a large reduction in the number of “no shows”. This has led to increased usage of the total resources and higher revenue for the department. Last but not least, the service level towards customers (patients) is higher than ever.
